As we all know the knee pain is one of the most common problems we experience during our life. The reason is usually a defect in the bony structure of the knee cap and joint. It can affect everyone, regardless of the age. The intensity can vary from mild to intense. Alternative medicine is probably the best way to treat and cure this condition.

Home remedies


1. ACV with hot water

2 cups of ACV
Hot water

Add the vinegar in a bathtub filled with hot water. Stir well. Soak your knees while still hot for about 30 minutes. Do it once a day for several days. The best solution for inner knee pain.

2. ACV with cold water

2 tbsp ACV
1 cup of water

Add the vinegar in a cup of water, and stir well. Consume once a day.

3. ACV and olive oil 

1 tbsp ACV
1 tbsp olive oil

Mix them well and apply to the front and back of your knee. Leave it for about 30 minutes, and wash your knees with water.


4. Turmeric and milk 

1 tbsp turmeric
1 glass of milk
2 drops honey

Add the turmeric in the milk, and the honey because of its taste. Boil for 5 minutes, and let it cool (5 minutes). Drink this mixture once a day.

5. Turmeric and ginger

1 and a half tbsp chopped ginger
1 and a half tbsp turmeric
2 drops honey
1 cup water

Add all the ingredients in the cup of water and boil for 10 minutes over a medium heat. Let it cool (around 10 minutes), and strain. Drink it immediately, twice a day until your knee pain is gone.

6. Cayenne pepper and olive oil 

2 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 and a half cups olive oil

Make a paste by mixing these ingredients. Apply it on the painful area. Do this twice a day for a week to eliminate the knee pain that you feel while running.

7. ACV and cayenne pepper 

1 cup of ACV
1 and a half tbsp of cayenne pepper

Mix them well and pour the mixture into a bath water. Soak the knees in it for about 20 minutes. Do this once per day until you decrease the inflammation and relieve the severe knee pain.


8. Ginger oil 

2-4 tbsp ginger oil

Apply directly on the affected areas. Let it stall for about 30 minutes, and rinse. Every day until the pain is gone completely.

9. Ginger tea

1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger
1 cup water
2 drops honey
2 drops lemon juice

Mix all of the ingredients and boil for 10 minutes. Strain and drink while it’s still hot. Do this if you have sharp pain in the knees on a daily basis to eliminate it.

10. Lemon

1 lemon
1/2 cup sesame oil
1 cheese cloth

Cut the lemon in small pieces. Pu the pieces in the cheese cloth. Tie it, and dip it in the oil for several minutes. Place it on the affected area and let it stay for about 10 minutes. Twice a day to eliminate your knee pain.


11. Mustard oil

2 tbsp mustard oil
2-3 garlic cloves
hot water

Heat the oil on a medium heat and add the chopped cloves. Heat for 15 minutes until the oil gets warm, and apply it on the aching knee. Leave it on for an hour. Dip the towel in a hot water and squeeze to remove the excess water. Place the towel on your knee. Do this treatment twice a week.

12. Epsom salt

1 cup Epsom salt
hot water

Add the salt in a bathtub filled with hot water. Soak your knees for 15 minutes, twice a week. This is great to lower the pain and inflammation in your knees.

13. Fenugreek seeds and water

2 tbsp fenugreek seeds
1 cup water

Soak the seeds in the water overnight. In the morning, strain the seeds and eat them. To ease your severe knee pain do this once a day.

14. Cold compress 

5 ice cubes

Wrap the ice cubes in a towel and place it on your knee. Let it stay for 10-20 minutes. Do this on a daily basis.

15. Eucalyptus Oil with peppermint and olive oil

5 drops eucalyptus oil
2 drops olive oil
5 drops peppermint oil
Small glass bottle

Put the eucalyptus and peppermint oil in the bottle, and after that add the olive oil. Bleed well and keep it away from a sunlight. Apply the mixture on the affected area. Let it act for about 60 minutes and rinse. Until you relieve the knee pain keep repeating.

16. Olive oil

2-3 drops olive oil

Apply on the affected areas with your fingers. Let it act for 60 minutes and wash your knees. Do it once a day to relieve the pain.

17. White willow tea

2 tbsp powdered white willow bark
4 drops honey
1 cup water

Boil the water, and add the powdered willow bark. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes and remove it from the heat. Add some honey drops to taste better. Strain and drink twice a week to ease the pain.

18. Dandelion leaves

3 tbsp powdered dandelion leaves
1 cup water
4 drops honey

Add the leaves in a cup of water and boil over a medium heat. While boiling add the honey for the taste. Strain and drink. Three times a week to get rid of the pain.

19. Juniper berry tea

1 tbsp dried juniper berries
3 drops honey
1 cup water

Boil the water and add the berries. Let them stay for 15 minutes and add the honey. Strain and drink the tea while it’s hot. Do this on a daily basis.

Note: pregnant women should stay away of this tea

20. Grape Juice 

3 cups of grape juice
1/2 tbsp pectin

Mix well and drink twice a day for 2 weeks.

21. Fenugreek seeds with water

5 tbsp fenugreek seeds
1/2 cup water

Roast the seeds. Once they cool to a room temperature powder them. Add five tbsp of the powdered seeds in the water to prepare a smooth paste. Apply on the painful area, and let it act for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Do it regularly to get rid of the pain.

22. Coconut oil

1/2 cup coconut oil

Boil over a medium heat for 30 minutes. Use your fingers to apply it while warm on the affected area. Leave it for 2-3 hours and wash it off. Do it twice a day to eliminate the pain.
